Private and Group Instruction
In-person and virtual lessons are designed to build strong fundamentals, strategic thinking, and confidence through structured, guided play. Each session meets learners where they are, helping them develop clear thinking, pattern recognition, and decision-making skills over time.
With over 10 years of coaching experience, instruction follows standards aligned with FIDE—the international governing body of chess—ensuring a structured approach rooted in proven principles. The focus goes beyond the board, supporting how students think, adapt, and grow with each session.
Community Programs
Conscious Moves, currently running at the Kent County Juvenile Detention Center, is a character-development program that uses chess to strengthen self-awareness, accountability, and intentional decision-making.
Over the past year, more than 60 residents have participated, developing critical thinking, deep focus, and the discipline to respond strategically rather than impulsively under pressure.
Each session connects lessons from the board to real-life situations, teaching participants to pause, evaluate consequences, and take ownership of their actions. Through strategy and reflection, youth build patience, resilience, sound judgment, and the ability to turn thoughtful attention into intentional action.
Workshops & Tournaments
Programs like Minds in Motion, delivered in partnership with Cognificient Kids Network, intentionally blend chess with social-emotional learning (SEL). Through this approach, participants build focus, discipline, and stronger decision-making skills while also developing self-awareness, emotional regulation, and resilience.
In addition to structured programming, we offer mini-tournaments that give students the opportunity to apply what they’ve learned in a competitive yet encouraging setting. Our seasonal offerings—including summer and holiday camps—provide immersive experiences where participants can deepen their skills, stay engaged year-round, and continue building both character and competence on and off the board.
